The Ōtepoti Theatre Lab Playwrights Programme pairs three new/emerging local playwrights with a dramaturg to support them in the development of a playscript. We match playwrights with the best possible dramaturg for them and their work.

The programme is a combination of individualised support and collaborative lab sessions. Along with working with their dramaturg, playwrights meet as a group (in line with Covid-alert regulations) for the orientation and table read sessions. Their third draft receives a workshop/rehearsal period with a professional director and actors, followed by a public reading, as well as opportunities to further develop and produce their work.
